Hitachi was once a significant manufacturer in the business PBX phone system market, especially within the hospitality industry. However, its presence in this sector stopped in 2004.
From the 1970s to the early 2000s, Hitachi's PBX systems, particularly the HCX series, were widely adopted in the hospitality industry. The HCX5000i Communication System, launched in 1987, became especially popular due to its versatility, serving both older hotels with limited cabling and newer properties. This series featured models like the HCX 5100, 5300, 5400, and 5500. However, these legacy systems are now considered long outdated, with business owners more and more replacing them with newer systems that incorporate more advanced technologies. Four hotel phone systems frequently chosen for their cost-effectiveness.
SelectSet phones were tailored for use with the HCX systems and can
still be found in some hospitality businesses. Specifically, the
SelectSet 900 series phones, including models 920, 930, and 940, were
specifically designed for guest rooms to work with the HCX5000i
Communication System.
